Consulting

Since 1989, FUNSALUD has participated in consulting contests in Mexico and Latin America, in order to reinforce health systems. In the past few years it has provided advisory services to institutions from the health sector in Mexico, mainly the Mexican Social Security Institute, IMSS Opportunities, the Estado de México Health Institute, the Department of Social Development, amongst others. Currently it is working on five projects: technological evaluation, evaluation of the program experts in action, evaluation of the IMSS Opportunities program, evaluation of the hospital infrastructure in the State of México and the restructuring of IMSS’s sectorial coordination.

Management of resources

FUNSALUD is an efficient vehicle through which funds from national and international donors can be channeled to benefit the health of the Mexican population. The administration of funds is one of the principal reasons for its success. Since its establishment, 489 funds have been administered for a total of 65.1 million dollars. The donations have originated from: abroad (50%), national donors (40%) and from the Federal and State governments (10%). These contributions have been awarded to public health institutes (36%), civil society organizations (55%) and private institutions (9%). The resources generated from the interests are transferred to the newly inducted fund manager.
